What documents do I need for a grant application?

Last updated 2026-09-01

Gathering paperwork in advance is the simplest way to speed up an application, especially for funds that close on a fixed date.

Commonly requested documents

  • Business plan or project proposal
  • Recent accounts or management figures, or forecasts for new businesses
  • Cash flow forecast covering the project period
  • Two or three written quotes for each cost
  • Business bank statements, usually three to six months
  • Evidence of match funding
  • Insurance, licences or certifications relevant to your sector
  • Company or charity registration details, or self-employment registration

Keep a reusable folder

Most of these documents are reusable across applications. Keeping a dated folder makes each subsequent application considerably faster.
